One of the rarest mezcals made. Tobala (‘Duub-Bá-Lá’) is an ancient Zapotec phrase describing a rare mezcal produced from a wild mountain maguey plant. This maguey is found growing naturally only in the highest altitude canyons, in the shade of oak trees like truffles. Harvesting of Tobala agave is only permitted for short periods of the year resulting in limited amounts being produced.
The Tobala is revered and celebrated; ensuring that all mezcal produced is normally voraciously consumed during the fiesta season.
Tasting Note: "Tobala mezcal has a distinctive and powerful nose with meaty, earthy and smoky tones. On the palate, its savoury taste has added fruit and spice complexity leading to an extraordinary and immense terroir finish."
