Bodegas Ochoa, dedicated to viticulture for many generations, has decided to include to its range of products the olive oil, a traditional staple in the Spanish families. Both products, olive oil and wine, are part of the Mediterranean gastronomy. Nowadays, our El Bosque estate holds 12 hectares of olive trees of the arbequina variety.
From their fruits we get our high-end extra virgin olive oil, which comes from the first cold extraction. Our 20.000 olive trees belong to the known as “New Olive culture”, based on the intensification and on the mechanization. These olive trees are small and suitable for the super-intensive growing. Thus, we pick the olives using the same machinery that we use for the vineyard and we produce our oil through the cold extraction, keeping untouched its biological features.
The arbequina variety produces a fruity oil, perfect for people keen on exotic flavours. It has an almond flavour, sweet and pleasant avoiding bitter taste nor tickle. Its aroma reminds to wild fruits and orchard fruits. It has a high content of linoleic acid, very healthy. It has to be stored in dark places with a constant temperature. The oil goes perfectly with fresh or cooked vegetables, fish and grilled meat. It’s Navarre Extra Virgin oil with Protected Designation of Origin.
