Meet the Team

Diosa Podda

Diosa Podda

I have many years of experience working and studying in Retail, as well as the Hotel and Catering industries.
In 2006 I enrolled to study for the WSET Intermediate qualification to learn more about the intriguing wine world.
Since then I have been working in the wine retail industry for the last five years (previously with Oddbins and now with Amathus) and also passed the WSET Advanced course.
I like to discover and sell wines from everywhere in the world, and I am looking forward to taste the new wines we are going to stock from India. In my spare time I enjoy cooking matching and drinking wine and time and weather permitting sailing.

Born into a family of butchers, I found myself taking the family business on to its fifth generation of trading, but not before I had a thorough grounding in all things meat based. Apprenticing throughout England I progressed as charcutier in Alsace, traiteur in Paris and after a period helping run the family business, chef in Barcelona. After nearly 20 years in the food industry I decided to move into wine, where, working in some of London’s finest wine shops I find myself continuing the theme here at Amathus.
I have a love of all wine, but, for better or worse I remain a Francophile at heart, seeking out especially the wines of Alsace, Burgundy, the Rhone and the southwest and Roussillon. My other passion is painting. I study art history when I can, while I juggle family life, work and supporting Peterborough United Football Club.

Leadenhall: Enomatic Wine List

White Wine

Red Wine

WoodstockSemillon/Sauvignon: The bouquet is lifted with passionfruit and tropical fruit aromas and hints of lemon and lime. The palate is balanced by tight, clean refreshing acidity and lingering with lychees and mango fruit nuances. A fruity yet dry style to be enjoyed young.

Carla Chiaro Malbec Réserve 2010:"Rich reserve level wine with green bramble and blackcurrant intensity with a long finish."

Domaine La Barbotaine Sancerre 2013: Classic lemon, cut grass and fresh asparagus nose, fresh high acidity and great mineral elegance makes this low volume, family made, hand cared for Sancerre stand out from the crowd.

Pedroncelli ZinfandelVery fragrant nose of ripe raspberries and sweet black pepper followed by spicy, black fruit compote intensity on the palate. Structured, rounded and full in the mouth, this wine has a long, lingering finish laced with slight toasted oak undertones.

Fess Parker Santa Barbara County Chardonnay 2014: Sierra Madre vineyard experiences ample fog and cool breezes funneled directly from the Pacific coastline which makes for very slow ripening and well developed flavors with great depth.

Ca’di Mori Amarone della Valpolicella DOC Classico 2011: Intense plum, cherry, raisin and currant nose, with complex spice, leather and earthy notes developing in the glass. A full body, with rounded large tannins, a touch of mocha and plenty of rich dark bramble flavours. Very long and surprisingly elegant finish.

Domaine Charly Nicolle Chablis 1er Cru les Fourneaux 2014: Intense floral bouquet with a touch of honey and mineral. Structured with fresh acidity and full expression of the terroir. Georges Michel La Reserve Pinot Noir 2010: Deep aromas of mushrooms, undergrowth and rich spices blending well with stewed plums and sharp redcurrants. Fantastic complexity of aromas continuing onto the palate where sour cherries and savoury flavours dominate. Great acid and firm tannins.
