The Old Rip Van Winkle brand, created by Julian Van Winkle Senior (better known as ‘Pappy’), dates back to 1908.
Old Rip Van Winkle is one of our agency whisky brand and their range consists of award winning Kentucky Bourbon Whiskeys of varying ages plus the oldest Kentucky Rye Whiskey available in the world.
Straight Kentucky Rye Whiskey is spicy and more assertive than bourbon. While most rye whiskeys are aged 5 years or less, Van Winkle Rye is distinctly different with 13 years ageing making it comparably smoother and more sippable.
No American bourbon or rye whiskey uses any caramel colouring and the Old Rip Van Winkles range is no exception. All colour comes from ageing in the charred mountain oak barrels. During production, Kentucky limestone spring water is used to cook the grains and when reduced for bottling, the distillery uses de-mineralised water from their own well in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky.
