Primitivo
This is a thick skinned grape that ripens well in direct sun and high heat, retaining balancing acidity. Primitivo has also been proven to be the same grape as Zinfandel – popular in California. It is widely planted in the “heel” of Italy and mainly produces easy drinking, rich, flavoursome wines. However, more high quality wines are being produced from certain areas within Puglia.
