Cálem Colheita 1961, from the great Portuguese house who specialises in Tawny Port, is a rare, trophy-winning, pinnacle of the barrel matured style; a collector's item of incredible sophistication.

Cálem Port, founded in 1859 by Antonio Alves Cálem, has a rich history of four generations. Since releasing its first Vintage Port in 1870, Cálem has gained a reputation for being one of the Douro’s most celebrated Port producers. The imposing winery is situated in Vila Nova de Gaia, on the south bank of the Douro River, and attracts around 150,000 visitors each year.

The Cálem Colheita 1961 is an exceptional tawny Port in every way. It had been awarded the IWSC Port Wine Trophy 2016 to complement its 94 Point score from The Wine Advocate and Gold Medal at the Sommelier Wine Awards. Its marked intensity and complexity of flavour is matched by notable freshness. A Port for the ages.

Judge's Tasting Notes at the IWSC 2017: "Amber shading to green. Dried figs, caramel and raisins with marmalade notes and candied lemons. The wine exhibits amazing youthfulness and purity and literally dances on the tongue. The balance of alcohol, wood ageing and fruit have come together in a incredible fusion of flavours and textures that is just purely sublime".

Awards:
96 Points & Gold at the Decanter World Wine Awards 2017
Gold at the IWSC Trophy 2017 for the Port wine category
