From the picturesque village of St-Emilion on Bordeaux's right bank, where the clay soils and undulating landscape combine to produce the finest Merlot-dominated red wines in the world. This a small 9 hectare estate is owned by Chantal and Peter Watts.
The trellised vineyards are tended by hand by a small team who believe in working each vine in harmony with nature and the seasons.
The grape varieties are picked and fermented separately in tank for 3-4 weeks at warm temperatures to ensure optimum extraction of colour, aroma and flavour. The wine is aged in a combination of new and old French oak barrels for 18 months before release.
Tasting Notes: The wine has benefited from some time in bottle which has allowed it to build a complex array of spice, leather and roasted meat notes to complemement the classic core of plum, loganberry and exotic and fresh tobacco that is so typical of red bordeaux. Medium-full, with soft ripe tannins and lovely balance, this is a great Bordeaux for drinking now and over the next five years.
