Founded in 1867, Contratto was the first winery in Italy to make vintage ‘Metodo Classico’ sparkling wine and in the 1920’s and 1930’s, it was the Contratto bubbles that were requested by the Vatican and the royal houses of Europe. Now owned by family-run business, La Spinetta, they have reintroduced Contratto to the world, whilst continuing to preserve and uphold its 150-year-old traditions and top quality.
The original recipe for Contratto Bitter dates back to 1933 and is based on a mixture of delicately infused, premium natural herbs, spices, roots and seeds combined with Italian Brandy.
A slow, cold maceration process is carried out according to tradition, resulting in a sophisticated, all-natural elixir. This complex yet well-balanced "boutique" aperitif is capable of turning any Contratto Bitter-based cocktail into an exceptional experience.
Perfect Serve: Bitter is meant to be mixed. Some of the most famous cocktails are made with bitters, including; Negroni, Americano, Bitter Soda & Bitter Sweet.
