Org de Rac is an award-winning, organically-certified estate located near Picketberg in the region of Swartland, today the source of many of the country’s most exciting wines. Org de Rac was established in 2001 as one of the first fully organic producers of South Africa and in 2005, the first wines were produced from vineyards on south facing slopes.
The wines are crafted by veteran winemaker Frank Meaker who has just overseeen the shift towards completely vegan production methods. A wide range of wines are made, all with the common thread of great value and varietal definition.
The only wine from from outside Swartland; the grapes are sourced from an organic grower in the cooler Constantia region, which benefits from both proximity to the ocean as well as vineyards at altitude such as the Silvermist and Eagle's Nest parcels from which these grapes come.
The grapes were harvested at optimum ripeness. During crushing, dry ice was used to retain freshness and the must was treated reductively, left on the skins for 18 hours and chilled to 13°C . The juice was removed from the skins, settled, clarified and fermented between 14° - 16°C. After fermentation, the wine was kept on the lees for a few months and a small portion was barrel fermented to add complexity and texture.

Tasting Note: Aromas of lime-leaf and grapefruit atop a juicy, focused palate with fine, tangy acidity and a textured, round mouthfeel.
