Location: Barolo, Piedmont, Italy
Located in the hills of Monforte d’Alba, Aldo Clerico is the winemaker and owner. He had previously worked in some of the most prestigious wine companies in Piedmont. Four years ago Aldo decided that it was time to take over the production at his parents' vineyards which have remained in the family for generations.
In his fist year Aldo built a new cellar and took over the wine production from grape to bottle.
Yields and the Wines
The yields are kept very low with regular pruning, and at harvest everything is handpicked. The vineyards face south, and benefit from good sun exposure, the soils is also very rocky and has great natural drainage.
The wines are fermented naturally using wild yeasts, and once ready put in oak barrels to age for two years. The wines are then bottled and aged for a further year before the vintage is released.
