Château de Sonnay

An old family from Chinon, De Foucaud, owns this stunning Domaine with its home in the marvellous chateau Sonnay, in the village of Cravant les Coteaux around 3 kilometres from Chinon. Cravant les Coteaux is one of the most famous villages of Chinon.
The property of Château de Sonnay stretches over 12 hectares. Of these 12 hectares, 8 of them are today’s vineyards were revived in the 1970’s following their destruction due to phylloxera in 1888.
It was then not until the 1970's that the vineyards were revived by the current owners, the Foucaud family. Today, the estate comprises 13 hectares of Cabernet Franc vines with an average age of 25 years. Fermentation and maturation generally take place in stainless steel tanks, although part of the wine is racked into oak casks.
