Château Champ des Soeurs
Location: Roussillon, France
Two brilliant wines from a small estate in the Languedoc-Roussillon sub-region of Fitou. This is one of the driest villages in France, the hot summer days forcing the roots of the vines deep into the limestone – schist soils in the search for water and nutrition, resulting in wines of incredible richness and concentration.
The breezes blowing inwards from the Mediterranean only 3 kilometres west, serve to moderate the otherwise arid conditions and providing a little valuable humidity to keep the vines working through the growing season.
Château Champ des Soeurs is owned and run by husband and wife team Laurent and Marie Maynadier who made their first vintage in 1999. Today they have 15 hectares of low-yielding, hand-worked vineyards. The wines are made with very low sulphur additions.
