Bunnahabhain 36yr Canasta
Bunnahabhain was once ruled by the sea; until 1960, all their deliveries arrived by boat. Today, the waves bring a very different cargo, crew and passengers venturing ashore, often from stunning ocean-going yachts. Their destination: its famously welcoming Islay single malt Scotch whisky.

The 1980 Canasta cask finish breathed in our briny coastal air for over 14,000 days – first in casks that held oloroso sherry, then in perfectly sweet Canasta sherry oak. The very essence of our coastal distillery
Our designer, Pocket Rocket, was inspired by the sea fairing history of Bunnahabhain, which, until 1960, received all deliveries arrived by boat. Today, the waves carry a very different cargo – crew and passengers venturing ashore, often from stunning ocean-going yachts to reach their destination, our famously welcoming distillery, via their wooden tenders and launches. Reflecting the elegant design of these craft, the box has been designed for individuals who appreciate and recognise such quality. From the detailed multi coloured wooden inlays right down to the quilted leather interior, the box reflects the beauty of crafted vintage wooden yachts and launches.
The 1980 Vintage Canasta Cask Finish breathed our briny coastal air for over 14,000 days – first in casks that held Oloroso sherry, then in perfectly sweet Canasta sherry oak.
Colour: Deep russet.
Nose: Notes of rich oak, dried fruit, figs, raisins and sultanas, balanced with treacle toffee, dark chocolate, and vanilla.
Palate: Rich oakiness balanced with sweet dried fruit, treacle toffee, black coffee and cocoa, and roasted nuts, with a hint of coastal brininess.
Finish: Dry but lingering sweet fruit and oak.
