Champ des Soeurs Fitou Bel Amant
Fitou, on the northern edge of the Roussillon just above Perpignan, is one of the driest villages in France, where hot summer days and old deep-rooted vines produce wines of incredible richness and concentration as well as value. The influence of Mediterranean only 3 kilometres west, moderates the sotherwise arid conditions during the long, dry summers.
Château Champ des Soeurs dates back to the 17th century and is today owned and run by husband and wife team Laurent and Marie Maynadier who made their first vintage in 1999.
They work with 15 hectares of low-yielding, hand-tended vineyards which are managed on a lutte raisonnée basis. The wines are made with very low sulphur additions and are packed with the rich, spicy fruit that is typical of the region.
