Domaine Nigri Pierre de Lune Jurançon Sec, from this French estate in organic conversion, is a dry, delicious, rich, creamy, textured barrel-aged, white made from local grapes Gros and Petit Manseng.
The Jurançon region in Southwest France is known for its rich, aromatic dry whites and outstanding dessert wines. The main varieties used here are the local Gros and Petit Manseng. The 16 hectare Domaine Nigri was created in 1685 and has been owned and run by the Lacoste family for four generations. Today the estate is undergoing conversion to organic certification.
Made from 80% Gros Manseng - 20% Petit Manseng, grown on clay-limestone soils. Hand harvested then fermented and aged on lees for 9 months in a combination of old and new French oak barrels. This is a serious dry white with rich nectarine and pineapple notes, a gorgeous round, silky palate with hints of nougat and spice.
A great alternative to Burgundy at a much lower price! Great with roast chicken or white fish in a beurre blanc sauce.
