Ferdinand's Saar Quince Fruit Genever
An award winning range of products from the 200 year old Avadis Distillery, infused with wines from the 275 year old Zilliken winery; Ferdinand’s Riesling infused Saar Quince owes its name to the Royal Prussian District Forester Ferdinand Geltz; the historical figure who also co-founded the the VDP Mosel Saar Ruwer Zulliken estate, one of Germany’s finest vineyards.
Carefully hand-picked Riesling grapes from the steep shale slopes of the Saarburger Rausch and over 30 finely balanced botanicals taken from the vineyards and their own cultivation, are macerated with highly aromatic quince fruits grown behind the distillery. The golden yellow ‘fruit of Aphrodite’, as it is also known, is one of the oldest fruits in the region and forms the basis for their regional homeage to traditional sloe gin.
Tasting Notes: Delicate rose-like florals emerge alongside the juicy, caramelised fruit tones of the quince. Refreshing, fruity, perfectly balanced and deliciously sweet!
