Jack Daniel's stacks pallets of hard sugar maple five feet high, covers them in raw, unaged whiskey, and then lights the wood on fire three times a day, three days a week. Although it may seem like a waste of perfectly good whiskey, nothing is wasted when creating Jack Daniel's. The fire reaches a temperature peak of more than 2,000 degrees Fahrenheit before withering to embers. Then they are spread out till they are cool and prepared to gradually mellow their Tennessee Whiskey.
