In the 1960’s, Jean Paul Metté used to help his neighbour produce eaux de vie. This started his passion and motivated him to learn the craft and later, he opened his own distillery. Keeping to traditional methods, Jean Paul Metté first produced classical eaux de vie like mirabelle plum and raspberry. He quickly expanded the range by introducing unique eaux de vie like flowers, berries and truffle.
He took his godson Philippe Traber under his wing in the mid-1980’s and passed on his passion, knowledge and secrets and who eventually took over on Jean Paul’s retirement in 1997. The distillery is located in Ribeauville and is managed by Philippe and Nathalie Traber.
Tasting Notes: In a purple colour, intense, dark, clears up aromas of currant very ripe bales, bales cooked, jammy with concept of freshness and vegetal noble. The ethereal and invigorating notes only reinforces this I'intensite aromatic liqueur. In the mouth, the generosity, a sugar well integrated and balanced parfalt, form the body of this liquor that persists and remains very digestible.
Perfect for a late meal and some simple cocktails that highlight I'intensite value of the fruit of this blackcurrant liqueur developed from macerated currants in a currant eau-de-vie and of sugar and addition of water and finally a filtration. Liqueurs are then bottled without aging.
