Schiopetto Pinot Bianco Collio 2018
Schiopetto's Pinot Bianco from Collio in Fruili is made from old vines, with a depth and richness seldom experienced in this variety - typical of the estate's pedigree as one of Italy's finest white wine producers.
Mario Schiopetto founded his eponymous estate in the 1960s and pioneered many modern winemaking techniques in the region. That continues today as the estate makes some of the finest white wines being produced in Italy. This is their Pinot Bianco: a considered nose of lemon rind, grapefruit, hints of flint, russet apple. Taut palate with crisp acidity, intense compact and direct initially then with air reveals expansive spiced orchard fruits, building in texture to reveal layers of flavour. As serious a Pinot Bianco / Blanc as you’re likely to encounter.
