Schiopetto Pinot Grigio Fireman's Line 2019
Mario Schiopetto was regarded as the father of modern Italian white wine, his Friuli winery today making some of Italy's finest. This floral, juicy Pinot Grigio from younger vines around 20 years old is full of ripe pear, fennel, almond and mineral notes
Mario Schiopetto founded his eponymous estate in the 1960s and pioneered many modern winemaking techniques in the region. That continues today as the estate makes some of the finest white wines being produced in Italy today. This entry-level Fireman's Line Pinot Grigio comes from vines under 20 years old, but this is still a good quality expression of the variety with floral pear, white peach and fresh almond flecked with a touch of honey and a plump, juicy palate.
