Details

The nose has a sweet and spicy opening, with wood spices, soft ginger, nutmeg and orange peel moving into rich vanilla. These characteristics continue on the palate with a sweet ginger sponge moving into the creamy vanilla flavours of a baked custard tart. The epic-length finish is rich in wood smoke, peach and hazelnut.

Starting with founder Alexander Reid's name—literally "The Red," to The Macallan's 'Choice Old' line debuted over a century ago in 1903, to Allan Shiach labelling antique Macallan bottles with a red ribbon in the 1980s.
