Velvet Cap Single Malt Bordeaux Cask, five-year-old. Although the label says cask finish, this whiskey was matured for five years exclusively in Bordeaux wine casks (left bank if you need to know). It’s rather special.
Blackwater Distillery is situated on the banks of the Blackwater River. Its Irish name is ‘An Abhainn Mhor’ which means ‘The Big River’. And big it certainly is. Sometimes referred to as the Munster Blackwater, it rises on the Cork, Kerry border and flows due east into Waterford, flowing past the distillery in Ballyduff.
