Vivera Martinella Etna Rosso
Grown high up on the slopes of Mount Etna (up to 1200m in places), the region’s winemakers have found that the altitude and volcanic soils provide an ideal environment for grape growing.
In 2002, the Vivera family purchased an estate in the Martinella district of Mount Etna. The winery owns 12 hectares of vineyards which are farmed organically and planted with the native grape varieties: Nerello Mascalese, Nerello Cappuccio and Carricante.
These grapes and the micro-climate allow Vivera to produce elegant, spicy, mineral driven wines which have depth and complexity.
Grape Varieties: 90% Nerello Mascalese, 10% Nerello Cappuccio.
Farming Practices: Organic
Tasting Notes: This starts off with baking spice and distinct notes of red cherries. The wine’s energy does not kick in until it has hours of air.
Come back to it and you will find a range of bright red fruit notes of cherry and plum with some delicate floral notes.
Awards: 91 points from Wine Spectator.
Sugar Level: 3g/l
Closure: Natural Cork
