Celler l'Encastell Priorat wines

Celler l'Encastell was founded in 1999 by Carme Figuerola and Raimon Castellvi. Their small, 8 hectare Priorat estate is focused on making highly concentrated red wines from vineyards up to 100 years of age. The hills of Priorat are the source of some Spain’s most highly sought-after wines, where high altitude and iron-rich slate soils combine to create wines of great personality, depth and minerality. Celler l'Encastell work their steep, low-yielding, terraced vineyards entirely by hand and their superb wines came out well ahead of many more famous names when tasted blind.

Our range includes Marge, their introduction to the wines of Priorat, with younger vines from two vineyards planted in 1999 and 2008. We also show their imposing, concentrated, Roquers de Porrera, sourced mainly from 75-100 year old Garnacha and Cariñena vines in the Mas d’en Caçador vineyard, yielding tiny quantities of grapes from each vine, and distilling the essence of Priorat.
