Lamont are based in the highly-regarded Bendigo sub-region of Central Otago, in New Zealand's South Island. Cool-climate Central Otago looks more like Scotland than the Côte d’Or, but has developed a reputation for producing some of NZ’s finest Pinot Noirs, as well as very good Chardonnay and aromatic varieties. Craig and Angie Gasson bought Lamont in 2011, after Craig worked there as his first viticultural job back in 2002. Today they have 12 hectares of hillside vineyards, with Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris and Riesling, under organic conversion.
The wines tend towards the more Burgundian in style, and are beautifully poised and put together. We're excited to bring their Pinot Gris, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir to the UK - three wines that sit among the top examples of each variety in the region.
