Powers Winery, Washington State

Powers Winery was founded by Bill Powers in 1982. Powers wines are crafted by long-time winemaker Jose Mendoza to showcase Washington State’s diverse microclimates and distinctive vineyards. Deeply rooted in long term relationships with premium Columbia Valley growers, Powers sources a variety of the highest quality fruit, consistently producing compelling wines of depth and complexity. They are commited to sustainable practices in both winery and vineyard to only produce the smallest carbon footprint possible.

At Amathus, we were struck not only by the superb quality and character of Powers' wines, but also by the value; wines from the US are often relatively expensive, yet the Powers team are crafting a range of authentically Washington State wines at affordable prices. Look out for the classic, Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon and juicy Riesling in particular, while the Champoux Vineyard Cabernet from the excellently-named Horse Heaven Hills AVA, is a true Reserve-quality wine.
