Sandro de Bruno Soave wines

Sandro de Bruno founded his eponymous, 23-hectare Soave estate in 2002, with a clear quality focus. His vineyards, crucially, lie in the better areas of Soave's varied terroir: on the volcanic hillsides at a variety of elevations, rather than on the fertile, high-production, valley floors. Vines are worked organically, though without certification, and grapes are hand harvested. In the winery he likes to work with fine lees which allow him to use relatively low levels of sulphur, while large oak barrels are used to add an extra dimension to his top cuvées.

At Amathus, you'll find wines from all three of Sandro's Soave quality tiers, including his bottling from the Colli Scaligeri sub-zone, with the pinnacle being his high-scoring, good value, Monte San Piero Soave Superiore. We also stock a sweet Recioto di Soave, and a fascinating, delicious, high-altitude Pinot Nero, also from volcanic soils. The whites in particular really over-deliver at their respective price points, offering up a textural depth and complexity that places these wines amongst the best of the region.
