Andrea Pecoraro - Store Manager

I’m from Bergamo in Italy. I moved to London at the young age of 20. After three years of understanding how living on my own feels like and doing all sorts of things in hospitality, I moved to Edinburgh where everything changed: coming from a lively London’s life working behind the stick, I became a wine student.

After completing my WSET Level 3 I moved back to London joining Amathus in summer 2016. I love working in retail as it allows my knowledge to be measured with connoisseurs, producers and genuine passionate people stimulating my desire to understand and learn the endless facets of this industry.

I still need to find my true love between vino and distilled beverages, so, while waiting for my second half to show up, I’m enjoying the diversity of all wines and spirits. Currently, I’m having an affair with Genever.

My name is Alessandro, vintage 1986 from Verona in Italy. I joined the Amathus team in February 2017, After majoring in Asian studies in Venice, I decided to focus on what was becoming my biggest passion: wine.

Living in a winemaking area so versatile and hanging out with wine producers, it was bound to happen!

I began studying wine & food with the Association of Italian Sommeliers back in Verona, collaborated with a couple of consortiums in the area around the Garda Lake and moved on to work as Wine Manager for a wine retail shop in the heart of Milan. My continuous research on the subject of wine led me to join the WSET Program in 2016 and after successfully tackling Level 3, I moved to London and started the WSET Diploma on September 2017.

I love sharing my knowledge of wine with people and I'm always in search of winemakers with crazy visions, which made me discover and get very serious with orange wines, but aside from that I always enjoy a good glass of Riesling and I spend way too much money on Pinot Noir...

While remaining a wine person to the very core, joining Amathus definitely raised my awareness of distillates and all things alcohol, the biggest discovery was Mezcal which I'm absolutely in love with!
