Alión, owned by Vega Sicilia as their modern face of Ribera Del Duero is 100% Tempranillo aged 12 months in French oak. The warm and dry 2022 vintage delivers a superb powerful, rich expression of dense, forest fruits, with leather and toast notes. Can age 8-10 years.

Challenge 21 - You must be 18 or over to buy alcohol. You must not buy alcohol on behalf of those under 18. We apply the "Challenge 21" policy to all delivery and collection orders. We will not supply if the person receiving or collecting orders appears under the age of 21.

We charge a flat fee of £5.95 for delivery if your order is under 20kg, and £10 inc VAT if it is over 20kg. Free delivery is available for orders above £120 (inc VAT).

For Standard Delivery, we will ship items within 2 working days, provided the order is placed before midday.

For Express Delivery, we will ship items the same day, provided the order is placed before midday.

Once your order has been dispatched, you will receive a shipment confirmation email, and the following day, you will receive a text from our courier with a delivery window. If your order has not yet arrived, please email [email protected] and quote your order number.

Keep an eye out for your shipment confirmation email; once you get it, your order will be delivered the next day.

You have the right to cancel your order at any time without being charged for the goods ordered within 14 days of purchase.

Description

Bodegas Alión was formed in 1986 and is owned by the great Vega Sicilia – regarded as Spain’s most prestigious wine estate. Alión is a 85-hectare wine estate founded by the Álvarez family (who also own the Toro estate Bodegas Pintia) to provide a modern expression of Ribera del Duero.

Alión, whose name refers to the area of Leon where the patriarch of the Alvarez family was born, is located just 15 km from the Vega Sicilia headquarters, in a very similar location, between the River Duero and the Valladolid to Soria highway, near to Ribera’s winemaking capital, Penafiel.

The first vintage to reach the market in1991 was made at Vega Sicilia, but from 1993 the wine had its own facilities following the acquisition and refurbishment of Bodegas Liceo. The winery was revamped again in 2001 to introduce fermentation wood vats. A new refurbishment in 2018 increased the number of tanks from 20 to 42, allowing for more specific fermentations.

In recent years, the role of oak has been reduced with the introduction of foudres and concrete tanks to complement barrels.
