DUMITRU - STORE MANAGER

Born in Moldova, a country known for its exceptional wine production, Dumitru developed a passion for viticulture from a young age. He helped with grape harvests at his grandmother’s vineyard. His reward was freshly squeezed grape juice—a fond childhood memory that ignited his love for winemaking. As an adult, he crafted his wine, distilling leftover grape pomace and ageing it in a wooden barrel.

After a career in the sugar industry, Dumitru moved to London and began working behind the bar in a Michelin-starred restaurant. His practical experience with wine and spirits served him well. Eager to deepen his expertise, he transitioned to a wine-focused role at Amathus Drinks in 2022.

Dumitru is passionate about indigenous grape varieties and frequently visits wineries to expand his knowledge. His favourite wines include aged Chardonnay, bold reds, and ice wine. Looking to the future, he aims to create a unique product incorporating botanicals he once foraged as a child.
