DAN - STORE MANAGER
I began my life in Wine and Spirits during the COVID lockdown in 2020. I was like many people in that I was bored and looking for something new to try. A friend recommended that I try the WSET courses, and it didn’t take long for me to realise that the study and science of drinking was something that I genuinely enjoyed. At the time, I was looking more for a career in other fields, and in truth, I had never pictured myself in a career in the drinks Industry. But upon completing my WSET Level 2 in Spirits and realising that I was rather good at this, I thought it couldn’t hurt to see what jobs were available – that’s how I came to work for Amathus.
Five years later, I am confident that I made the right decision.
The great thing about working with a company like Amathus is that you’re incredibly immersed in the world of fine wine and spirits. Every day, there is something new to learn or new brands to try, and I’m always excited to see what comes next.
What’s more I’ve always loved working in retail. I love getting to know the customers, and it’s a great joy for me when a customer I helped pops their head into the store to tell me how much they loved our choices for them.
I wouldn’t pretend to know everything there is to know about the world of wine and spirits (in fact, I’ve only just started my WSET Diploma), but I love working for Amathus, and as long as I’m here, I’ll always find something new to do and definitely something new to try!
