Description

The Spanish region of Yecla, in the southeast of the country, is one of only 3 wine regions in the world where the focus is on Monastrell, aka Mouvedre; the others being nearby Jumilla and Bandol in Provence. The largely sandy soil and high altitude means that this is one of the only European wine regions to avoid total devastation from Phylloxera, with many vineyards still planted on original pre-phylloxera rootstocks. The high altitude of the vineyards allows the hot summer days to be tempered by cold nights, giving wines which balance richness with refreshing acidity The Candela family have been making wine since the 1850s and established the Barahonda winery in 2003. They work with an organic philosophy, with vines planted between 500 and 900 metres above sea level, working with techniques such as pheromone boxes in the vineyards to eliminate insect damage, while dry climate and altitude greatly reduces the potential for mildew and rot. This is a medium-bodied organic blend of Monastrell and Syrahfrom 45 year old vines, aged in barrel for extra complexity. Perfumed bramble fruits, pepper and violet notes, a touch of meaty spice and gently grippy tannins balanced with fine acidity

Delivery

Challenge 21 - You must be 18 or over to buy alcohol. You must not buy alcohol on behalf of those under 18. We apply the "Challenge 21" policy to all delivery and collection orders. We will not supply if the person receiving or collecting orders appears under the age of 21.

We charge a flat fee of £5.95 for delivery if your order is under 20kg, and £10 inc VAT if it is over 20kg. Free delivery is available for orders above £125 (inc VAT).

For Standard Delivery, we will ship items within 2 working days, provided the order is placed before midday.

For Express Delivery, we will ship items the same day, provided the order is placed before midday.

Once your order has been dispatched, you will receive a shipment confirmation email, and the following day, you will receive a text from our courier with a delivery window. If your order has not yet arrived, please email [email protected] and quote your order number.

Keep an eye out for your shipment confirmation email; once you get it, your order will be delivered the next day.

You have the right to cancel your order at any time without being charged for the goods ordered within 14 days of purchase.

If you call us after your item has shipped, we will be unable to cancel it and you will need to return to us.
