Description

Discover the secret of Becherovka, a 200-year-old herbal liqueur and the oldest alcohol brand in the Czech Republic. Produced since 1807 in Karlovy Vary from a closely guarded recipe of approximately 20 herbs and spices. Founded by Josef Vitus Becher, who refined the original recipe over nearly two years, the liqueur's legacy was further shaped by Johann Nepomuk Becher, who expanded production and established its iconic flat bottle shape in 1866.

About the Producer

Since its first export in 1834, Becherovka has garnered international acclaim, including the prestigious Paris Grand Prix in 1900. A new premium bottle design was unveiled in 2018, featuring Becher's crest, symbolising its rich heritage. With modernised production facilities in Bohatice meeting increased global demand, Becherovka remains a symbol of Czech craftsmanship, cherished for its distinctive taste and historical importance.

Tasting Notes

Becherovka Herbal Liqueur features a blend of herbs and spices that creates a rich and aromatic profile. It offers notes of cinnamon, cloves, and citrus peel on the nose. The palate balances herbal bitterness with sweet hints of caramel and honey. The finish is smooth and lingering, showcasing herbal complexities.

How To Enjoy

To enjoy Becherovka Herbal Liqueur, serve it chilled as a digestif after a meal. Alternatively, use it as a versatile ingredient in cocktails. Try it in a classic Becherovka Tonic by mixing it with tonic water and a slice of lemon or lime over ice. Its unique profile also pairs well with ginger ale or in hot beverages like tea or coffee for a warming, aromatic treat.
