Tasting Notes

Upon decanting, the 2008 Chateau Grand-Puy-Lacoste will show a deep garnet colour, with plum, blackcurrant and blackberry aromas. Given a little more time to breathe, tertiary aromas will begin to unfurl, and a harmonious blend of cigar smoke, leather, cedarwood and dried prune will sit alongside the fresher fruit notes. In the mouth, the wine will be supple and mellow, with silky, well-integrated tannins and a medium-full body. A rich, creamy texture will give way to a long, complex finish with lingering flavours of vanilla. Chateau Grand-Puy-Lacoste is best savoured alongside a traditional joint of roast beef, with all the trimmings; its elegance also makes it a fantastic match for pan-fried venison or game.
