Davino is one of Romania’s top estates in the premium region of Dealu Mare, an appellation that stands at the foothills of the Carpathian Mountains. Owner Dan Balaban began as a wine distributor before founding the 3rd private winery of the new era in Romania in 1997. He focused on the highest quality from the beginning, bringing in a French-trained winemaker, Bogdan Costachescu, who later became a partner in the business.
Today, the winery has 70 hectares of its own, planted with top-quality clonal material (a mixture of international grapes and local Feteasca Alba and Feteasca Neagra), and rents an additional 17 hectares. A new micro winery for its top wines was completed in 2017. There is a mix of clay soil vineyards, ideal for the reds, and limestone soil vineyards, ideal for the whites.

This versatile white is an excellent match for Mediterranean cuisine, including grilled seafood, fresh salads, and light pasta dishes. It also pairs beautifully with soft cheeses and subtly spiced dishes, highlighting the wine’s bright fruit and refreshing character.
