At a Glance

Champagne Egly-Ouriet is a renowned grower estate located in the Montagne de Reims, with a viticultural history dating back to the late 18th century. Since taking over in 1982, Francis Egly has transformed the domaine into one of the most respected names in Champagne, returning the focus to 100% estate bottling and placing quality at the forefront of every decision. In 2008, the estate introduced two Coquard presses to enhance control over juice extraction, a move that further elevated the precision and expression of their wines. Today, Francis is joined by his children, Clémence and Charles, who manage exports and vineyard operations respectively, ensuring the continuity of the family’s dedication to excellence.

The estate spans 21 hectares, with 10 hectares located in the Grand Cru villages of Ambonnay, Bouzy, and Verzenay. The remaining holdings are in Premier Cru sites such as Vrigny, Bisseuil, and Trigny. The vineyards are cultivated with a focus on sustainability, incorporating biodynamic principles that aim to preserve soil vitality, improve vine health, and reflect the character of each terroir in the final wine.

The grapes for this Champagne are sourced from south-facing slopes in Bisseuil, a Premier Cru village neighbouring the renowned Grand Cru communes of Aÿ and Mareuil-sur-Aÿ. Unlike Egly-Ouriet’s typical Pinot Noir-led blends, Les Vignes de Bisseuil is Chardonnay dominant. The wine is a blend of three vintages, 50% 2019, 30% 2018, and 20% 2017, reflecting a consistent style built for finesse and ageing potential.

The vineyard has been farmed biodynamically for over seven years, and the grapes are hand-harvested and vinified in barrels using natural yeasts, with minimal cellar intervention to preserve purity and expression. The wine is aged in the cellar for four years before disgorgement, contributing to its depth and complexity.

On the palate, Les Vignes de Bisseuil is elegant and layered, starting with delicate baked apple, white flower and tangerine oil notes that unfold into slate and sage mineral undertones. The texture is light and airy, yet the wine reveals a broad dimension and remarkable finesse with time in the glass.

This Champagne pairs beautifully with refined seafood dishes and shellfish, where its fresh acidity and textural complexity shine.
