Fast becoming an iconic wine, Flaccianello is a broad-shouldered and intense expression of Sangiovese, showing its best after 5 years of cellaring. Aged for 24 months in French oak, full-bodied with dense black cherry, mocha, liquorice, lavender, spice and tobacco. A true powerhouse of a wine.

The Manetti family has owned Fontodi since 1968 whilst Giovanni Manetti has run the property since 1980. His eye for detail and meticulous approach raised the quality level at Fontodi and is now recognised as an iconic name in Tuscany. The 90 hectares of vineyards, 90% being Sangiovese, are situated in the Golden Shell or ‘Conca d’Oro, a prime position within Panzano, within the Chianti Classico region. The area is known and renowned for its quality viticulture, specifically the high altitude, marly soils and high diurnal temperature range. The vineyards are now certified organic and Biodynamic principles are followed to ensure the finest quality grapes. Flaccianello della Pieve is the top wine of the estate year on year.
