This is a spectacular white Burgundy. Richer than its peers in Montrachet, complex notes of vanilla, buttered toast and hints of cinnamon are perfectly balanced by ripe orchard fruit and lemon zest. Pair with roast chicken or guineafowl.

For Standard Delivery, we will ship items within 2 working days, provided the order is placed before midday.

For Express Delivery, we will ship items the same day, provided the order is placed before midday.

Description

Les Caillerets makes a strong argument for being the greatest of Chassagne-Montrachet’s premier crus. Located in the middle of one of Burgundy’s rolling hills facing the south-east, the site benefits from optimal sun exposure to ensure perfectly ripened Chardonnay grapes. Its neighbours, Le Montrachet and Chassagne-Montrachet, are both Grands Crus.

Tasting Notes

Within this environment, it is no surprise that Jean-Marc Pillot has made an exceptional wine. The domaine holds only 0.18 hectares of vines within the plot, ensuring a limited production and meticulous attention paid to each vine. The result is a Chassagne-Montrachet notably richer and riper than many other wines from the appellation, yet with the tension and tautness to balance it out. Drink now or cellar for an additional 5-7 years. Pair with seafood or classic white meat dishes.
