Keush Origins Brut is a captivating sparkling wine that brings together millennia of winemaking tradition and the dramatic beauty of Armenia’s highland terroir. Sourced from own-rooted vineyards in the remote village of Khachik, situated at an elevation of nearly 1,800 meters, this wine is a true expression of altitude, heritage, and precision. Perched along Armenia’s southwestern border, Khachik is surrounded by panoramic mountain views and a rugged landscape shaped by ancient volcanic activity and limestone formations. The harsh winters, hot summers, and dramatic diurnal shifts create ideal conditions for cultivating grapes with intense freshness, structure, and aromatic complexity.
This cuvée blends two indigenous Armenian varieties: Voskehat (60%), known as the "queen berry," prized for its age-worthy structure and bright acidity, and Khatouni (40%), a rare grape lending finesse, floral tones, and gentle fruit character. These grapes thrive in the rocky, mineral-rich soils that define Vayots Dzor, a region whose viticultural roots date back over 6,000 years. Many vines in this area grow ungrafted and preserved from phylloxera thanks to the elevation and isolation, making them some of the world's most unique and historically significant.
Harvested by hand and gently pressed, the grapes undergo fermentation in stainless steel to preserve their purity and freshness. The base wine is then bottled for a second fermentation following the Méthode Traditionnelle—the same time-honoured technique used in Champagne. Keush Origins is aged on the lees for a minimum of 22 months, allowing the wine to develop a refined mousse, creamy texture, and complex autolytic character. Only 4 g/L of dosage is added, maintaining its dry, elegant profile.
In the glass, Origins reveals a luminous straw-yellow hue with delicate, persistent bubbles. Aromas of ripe stone fruits—peach, apricot, and golden apple—interlace with hints of lemon zest, lime blossom, and white flowers. On the palate, it offers a harmonious balance between vibrant acidity, silky effervescence, and a chalky mineral undertone. Subtle notes of white tea, toasted brioche, and almond unfold with each sip, leading to a long, clean finish marked by finesse and freshness.
Keush Origins Brut is a versatile companion at the table. It elevates freshly shucked oysters, lobster, and trout while pairing beautifully with delicate starters like goat cheese salad, scallop carpaccio, and herbed chicken. For a surprising twist, it also shines with creamy desserts like pannacotta, crème brûlée, or almond-based pastries, where its acidity cuts through richness.
