La Tour Melas Silphium Rosé
La Tour Melas is making perhaps the best rosé in Greece today, and the remarkable Silphium is the pinnacle of its range. It is a blend of Grenache with local varieties Fokiano, Monemvasia, and Aspro Potamisi, fermented and aged in amphorae and barrels. It is rich yet graceful, with notes of orange blossom, sea breeze, quince, and grapefruit.

A unique wine made from 15% Grenache, 70% ungrafted Fokiano, 5% Aspro Potamisi, and 10% Monemvasia. Hand-harvested and vertically pressed. Fokiano, Monemvasia and Aspro Potamisi co-fermented in ceramic amphorae. Ageing on fine lees for 6 months: 10% in barrels - 90% in ceramic amphorae.
Bright and vivid melon hues. Intense nose with citrus, honey, and white flower aromas. Silphium is a rich and round wine, balanced with a soft acidity that leads to a sumptuous finish with notes of pear, lychee, and grapefruit pith, with distinguishable tannins. Silphium remains a wine with a good ageing potential, which is uncommon for a rosé.
