Powers Winery was founded by Bill Powers in 1982. Powers wines are crafted by long-time winemaker Jose Mendoza to showcase Washington State’s diverse microclimates and distinctive vineyards. Deeply rooted in long term relationships with premium Columbia Valley growers, Powers sources a variety of the highest quality fruit to consistently produce compelling wines of uncommon depth and complexity. They are commited to sustainable practices in both winery and vineyard to only produce the smallest possible carbon footprint. We were struck by the superb quality, character and value of the wines.
Grown on a very cool site on the Oregon side of the Columbia Valley, these riesling grapes have been certified organic since 2015.
Night harvested and sorted using the latest technology, the grapes are destemmed and pressed immediately. The juice is cold settled , clarified, and inoculated for a cool fermentation in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks. Primary fermentation is halted by chilling when the sugar/acid balance is perfect for the vintage.
Tasting Notes: A vibrant, juicy, zesty white wine with an explosion of apple and mandarine fruit. The tangy acidity makes the mouth water, and while this is a dry wine the meerest hint of fruit sweetness keeps you coming back for another sip.
Food Match: Perfect with prawn and papaya salad or fish tacos.
Closure: Screwcap
Farming Practices: Organic
