de Melgaco are one of the leading producers of the Portuguese Vinho Verde region, producing a range of immaculate wines from local grape varieties. This is from a unique parcel of less than 2 hectares of Alvarinho vines at 200 meters above the sea level , with vines of minimum of 30 years old, which in this region is considered “old vines”, produces this elegant, vibrant, lively wine. The vines are allowed to grow with minimum intervention or systemic chemical input. The grapes are destemmed and softly pressed . After fermentation at controlled temperatures, the wine rests on the fine lees for 6 months, with battonage to add texture to the wine, then ageing concludes with a further 6 months in bottle. 12.5% ABV.
A lovely textured white with notes of ripe nectarines and cream, russet pear, melon, straw and a hint of jasmine and sea breeze. A plump, generous palate held together with refreshing acidity on the long finish. Versatile enough to drink alone or with fish and white meats
