Description

Tenuta Scuotto is a small yet highly regarded 7 hectare family-run winery located in Lapio, in the province of Avellino, Campania, Italy. Founded in 2009 by Eduardo and Adolfo Scuotto, the estate is celebrated for native Irpinian grape varieties, and their barrel fermented "Oi Nì" Fiano. Situated at altitudes reaching 500 metres above sea level, the vines grow in clay-limestone soils enriched with local volcanic elements. This terroir, combined with a mild microclimate and sharp temperature swings between day and night, imparts exceptional acidity, complex aromatics, and a distinct smoky minerality to the fruit. Yields are low, and the vines hand-harvested. The winery has now achieved full organic certification for releases from 2026 onwards. The winemaking combines low intervention with technology; on the one hand indigenous yeasts are sued to impart character to the wines, yet the temperatures are carefully controlled during fermentation and ageing.

These are artisanal wines of great character and personality at prices which are more than reasonable for the high level of quality.
