Description

Quietly, elegantly, and almost involuntarily, the Incisa della Rocchetta family set to release the wine that would revolutionise the Italian wine scene, creating a totally new genre: the Super-Tuscan. Tenuta San Guido is now a legendary estate, first planted in the 1940s by the Marchese Mario Incisa della Rocchetta, who noted the similarity between Bolgheri’s terroir and that of Bordeaux's Graves. The name "Sassicaia," meaning "place of many stones," reflects the gravelly soil reminiscent of the Medoc region in France.

When Sassicaia was finally commercially released in 1968, it took the fine wine world by storm. Cementing its iconic status, in 1994 it was granted its own appellation – Bolgheri Sassicaia DOC. The wines of Tenuta San Guido are celebrated for their intense notes of cassis, coupled with a cedary elegance, and are renowned for their extraordinary power and length. This combination of factors has solidified Tenuta San Guido's position as a pinnacle of quality and prestige in the world of fine wine.

Le Difese is the 3rd wine from this iconic Estate. A blend of Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon, it is aged for 12 months in French and American oak barrels, previously used for Guidalberto and Sassicaia, followed by 3 months in the bottle. A delicious Italian red in its own right, it delivers elegant medium-weight red and dark berry fruit flavours, violet and herbal notes and round tannins. It is ideal for drinking now and over the next 5 years.

Delivery

Challenge 21 - You must be 18 or over to buy alcohol. You must not buy alcohol on behalf of those under 18. We apply the "Challenge 21" policy to all delivery and collection orders. We will not supply if the person receiving or collecting orders appears under the age of 21.

We charge a flat fee of £5.95 for delivery if your order is under 20kg, and £10 inc VAT if it is over 20kg. Free delivery is available for orders above £125 (inc VAT).

For Standard Delivery, we will ship items within 2 working days, provided the order is placed before midday.

For Express Delivery, we will ship items the same day, provided the order is placed before midday.

Once your order has been dispatched, you will receive a shipment confirmation email, and the following day, you will receive a text from our courier with a delivery window. If your order has not yet arrived, please email [email protected] and quote your order number.

Keep an eye out for your shipment confirmation email; once you get it, your order will be delivered the next day.
