Description

The Macallan Edition No. 6 is the sixth and final edition in the series, and it is inspired by the natural marvels of the famed River Spey and The Macallan Estate, where each and every cask of The Macallan is aged before being hand-selected for use by their skilled whisky producers. The Macallan Whisky Maker Steven Bremner hand-picked each of the five different barrel types used to create Edition No. 6. He was inspired by interesting anecdotes about the river and the surrounding area. The American and European oak casks were chosen to create a flavour profile that will provide a diverse experience, beginning with the appealing rich brass natural colour, followed by layers of aroma, and finally a deep and gratifying flavour.

The fabled River Spey runs through the Estate and is known around the world for being the home of the huge Atlantic salmon. The Macallan Ghillie is a keeper of the River Spey and a supporter of wildlife conservation in and around it. A few few can test their talents on our one-and-a-quarter mile stretch of river in the hopes of catching – and releasing – wild Atlantic salmon using Hardy's unequalled tackle. Wild Atlantic salmon are on the verge of becoming extinct. As a result, The Macallan is collaborating with the Atlantic Salmon Trust to help raise awareness about this issue and to assist important conservation efforts on the River Spey and elsewhere.
