The Macallan's Legends Captain John Grant, Laird of Easter Elchies, is honoured in Volume I. Captain John Grant, The Macallan's first true caretaker, relates the story of a dream come true, a landscape transformation, and a new beginning. He prepared the ground for The Macallan by living and working on Easter Elchies Estate and cultivating the influence of nature and community spirit. This is the first in a spectacular series of single malt whiskies honouring The Macallan Pioneers and their stories.
The exceptionally rare whisky was distilled in 1950 and bottled in 2021, is hidden behind an astonishing 800-page almanack encased in a Lalique crystal decanter. Andrew Davidson, a renowned painter and artist, created magnificent pictures for the book, which chronicles the narrative of Captain John Grant.
Macallan's long-time collaborator, master French crystal manufacturer Lalique, designed the magnificent, handcrafted crystal decanter that houses this unique and uncommon expression. The decanter is hidden inside an exceptional almanack book made by Shepherds Bookbinders, which features gorgeous pictures by Andrew Davidson, a British artist and illustrator. Andrew Davidson created exquisite wood engraved prints based on stories from Captain John Grant's life and his connections to Easter Elchies Estate. Each chapter relates Captain John Grant's story through his pictures, which are also carved into the crystal Lalique decanter that contains the priceless spirit.
