Tiraki Pinot Noir 2024
Tiraki is New Zealand's first B-Corp Certified winery. Owned by the Hammond family, this is one of Marlborough’s most exciting new producers and their Pinot Noir is a seductive, aromatic, supple medium-bodied red alive with fresh raspberry and cherry notes which build hints of spice in the glass. A satisfyingly complex, long elegant finish.

Tiraki, meaning ‘clearing of the sky’ in Māori, embodies a rich legacy rooted in Ngāi Tahu Māori heritage and the breathtaking Marlborough region of New Zealand. The Hammond family farm, with a proud history spanning five generations, has always been a cornerstone of our identity. Founded by the three Hammond siblings and a friend with a deep connection to the land, Tiraki was born from a lifelong passion for nature, adventure, and the spirit of whānau (family). Their vineyards, nestled in the Wairau Valley, benefit from the unique climate created by the protective mountain ranges, offering the perfect conditions for low-intervention wines. A defining event for Tiraki was their achievement as the first wine brand in New Zealand to attain B Corp certification, underscoring their dedication to social and environmental responsibility. Tiraki’s commitment to sustainability includes native plantings along waterways and transitioning to organic farming methods.
The Pinot Noir is sourced from the clay rich soils of Longfield Farm’s Hill Block on the edge of the Southern Valleys of Marlborough. The vineyard is planted with Clones 5, 115 and 943.
The fruit was hand picked with the majority being destemmed and fermented in small open top fermenters. Each of the clones were fermented separately with the Clone 5 ferment including 20% whole bunches to add freshness and vibrancy to the wine. Aged in French oak for 12 months 25% of which was new. No fining or filtration prior to bottling.
A complex and concentrated Pinot Noir with aromas of cherry, raspberry, cocoa and violets. The palate is elegantly structured with bramble fruits, spices and an earthy note, adding complexity. The fine silky tannins are characteristic of the vineyard site
