Twomey is a project from the team behind renowned winery Silver Oak. The brand was established by the Duncan family of Silver Oak, originating with the purchase of the Soda Canyon Ranch in south-eastern Napa Valley in 1999. Although they specialise in Merlot, we loved the Sauvignon, which is a delicious, lightly oaked, subtly nutty take on the variety; softer and richer than Loire or New Zealand Sauvignon, but avoiding some of the excesses associated with the “Fumé Blanc” style.
99% Sauvignon Blanc; 1% Sauvignon Gris. 50% Napa County fruit and 50% Sonoma County from four different vineyard sites. Aged in a variety of vessels from used oak to concrete barrels. Beautifully aromatic with citrus, pear and green apple, a palate driven by citrus notes with electric acidity, and a finish that develops tropical fruit notes with creamy texture.
