Walgate W Blanc 2023, made by winemaker Ben Walgate, is a low intervention yet precise blend of Auxerrois and Ortega. Whole bunches are direct pressed in fiberglass and oak barrel, followed by wild fermentation and long elevage. Warm stone fruit with tropical notes, soft acidity, generous mouthfeel.

Ben Walgate co-founded Tillingham , an innovative, biodynamic, pioneering English winery set up in 2017.
Ben then started his own project in 2023, called Walgate wines, based on regenerative farming, qvevri winemaking, biodynamic principles and low intervention.
The ethos of Walgate is to make wines with a positive presence, on an environmental level, but also in terms of cultural, social and economic impact. This is manifested in choices surrounding farming and wine production but also how the business operates.
The grapes for Walgate W Blanc 2023 originate from vineyards in Sussex. Whole bunches of Auxerrois and Ortega are direct pressed to Fiberglass and Oak Barrel (80:20). Wild fermentation is followed by long élevage. Bottled with minimal sulphur additions and without fining or filtration in September 2025.
Bright, pale straw gold in appearance. On the nose, warm stone fruit with tropical notes and a touch of lychee. Soft acidity: a textural white wine with generous mouthfeel.
