Poitín (poteen)

Poitín

The term "poitn," which translates to "little pot," comes from the process of distilling alcohol in a pot still. Poitn is formally defined as an unaged spirit with an alcohol by volume (ABV) ranging from 40% to an enticing 90%. Poitn was formerly known by the titles "Irish moonshine" and "mountain dew." The name is a diminutive of the Irish word pota, which means "pot," and refers to the small pot still in which it was originally distilled.
